Windsor RSL club stems from our sub branch of the RSL and was reformed to club LTD in 1959. We are the only RSL club in the Hawkesbury valley and surrounding districts and were very proud of our heritage and relationship with the rsl movement. The club is relaxed and known as the friendly club, has no intention of becoming a casino and offers comfortable surroundings for members and guests. | | | |
| | | | | After World War II Veterans met each afternoon at the commercial hotel Windsor and decided to form a district sub branch of the R.S.L. In due course a government grant was approved and the land was purchased in South Windsor with the Veterans being guarantors to the bank for the shortfall in funds. A 2nd hand shed was purchased and volunteer labour converted it into a clubhouse with outside toilets and was officially named Windsor RSL Club, although was known locally as the “Tin Shed”. | | | | | | | | | RSL Sub branches are registered charities and with the advent of poker machines Windsor sub branch decided to form Windsor & District RSL Sub branch club LTD and built a new clubhouse on our present site. In 1959 the first Board of Directors began operations. Once again the Veterans were Guarantors to the bank and allowed the club LTD to trade rent free for some years to become established. After many extensions to the clubhouse over the years with increases to the rent as the club LTD became profitable, the sub branch elected to sell the land and building to the club LTD. In 2002 R.S.L head quarters approved the sale and the agreement between the two local organizations is now a model for all sub branch to club LTD sales. | | | |
